“Act Like Jesus: Prayer”
“If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!” Psalm 66:18-20
Why This Matters
Prayer is a learned lifestyle
Our failure to hear is a failure to grow in our relationship with God.
Waiting on the Lord is crucial to hearing from the Lord.
Prayer is not about getting what you want, but discerning what God wants for you.
Unanswered prayer is often due to asking with wrong motives.
What do we learn about prayer from the life of Jesus? How does His prayer life look different from ours?
What do we learn about prayer from the Psalms? Do we pray within the full spectrum of emotion, from lament to elation, or only during certain times?
What can the Lord’s Prayer teach us about prayer?
Where can you be more bold in prayer, asking, seeking, and knocking? Where do you need to be more humble in prayer, listening and waiting?
