Warrior Poet: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13:  Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

Dear Warrior Poet,

Honoring those who are called to be overseers and holding them in high regard is a call to unity and encouragement. God has placed all authority in place and He works through their strengths and weaknesses to accomplish His will. We are to hold them in high regard. To not do so (unless they have disqualified themselves) is a sin. We are to hold them in high regard because of their work. Hubris is to believe it should be done a certain way without having ever walked a mile in those shoes. Pride believes it knows better and births contempt which undermines respect, no matter how artfully it is stated. Whatever body you belong to, respect and regard those that lead.
