I believe everything I am and everything I own belongs to God.
Psalm 24:1-2 (NIV)
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.
Dear Warrior Poet,
Whispering a prayer in the hallway of the hospital, I realized my 4 month old son belonged, not to me, but to Jesus. “Lord, he is yours.” Life and everything in it is simply a stewardship. A gift to present back to God.
We have innumerable moments and possessions afforded to us. Yet, too often we live under the illusion that it belongs to us, that we deserve it because we built the life we have and that we are owed the blessings, because of our diligence and effort. The opportunities from the Lord and every good and perfect gift from above is how we are rewarded, not from our own diligence and efforts in building a life that is done separate from Him.
We are given the opportunity to give back, not because of God’s need, but because of our need to worship. Our refusal or lack of awareness of our need is due to pride, self-reliance and ultimate rebellion.
What kind of steward are you?
