It was 11:30 at night. I was sound asleep when my wife woke me up apologetically. “I’ve tried everything. I’m so sorry to wake you, but I need your help.”

“What’s wrong?” I said.

She smirked and said, “Blue is stuck in a pot.”

“What?” I replied.

“You’ll just have to come see.”

Blue stuck_2As I walked into the kitchen, I saw our puppy Blue with his head in a red plastic hourglass-shaped pot. He was stuck.  The plastic was a dense hard plastic and had no give.  My wife had tried for 20 minutes to pull his head through the opening but didn’t want to hurt him or injure his neck.

I went to the garage and brought in an assortment of tools. With care and patience, I spent 30 minutes slowly cutting away the plastic so Blue’s head could be freed. He was grateful and showered me with affection.  It was traumatic for him, but soon he had rested and was back off to explore some other object.

Sometimes we put ourselves in places that weren’t designed for us. Sometimes we do so out of ignorance, other times we do so out of willful disobedience, and often we end up stuck with no other way out except for slow careful patient cutting away of that which binds us.

I’m not sure what’s got you, but I know there is freedom. His name is Jesus, and He will cut you free!
