Ephesians 5:25: “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her”
Sacrificial love regards the needs of others through the lens of God. It is a proactive love that considers and responds before the request has been made—before the need is even seen. Sacrificial love sees, anticipates, descends and serves. This bold courageous love is totally “other,” sourced in divinity and flows through humility. It is rare and momentous because the Spirit of God wells up to display divine love and that is what we all long for. It is what a man most wants to display even if he doesn’t know it and it is what a woman most wants to receive though she may be unaware. To love in this way is divine and requires divine love—everything else is the temporary fading flesh exhausting itself upon itself. Love her as Christ loved the church.
